UFC president Dana White has confirmed a change to the UFC 163 main event, as Anthony Pettis has been forced out of a planned match up with Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title.
In place of Pettis will step Chan Sung Jung, better known as “The Korean Zombie.”
“Pettis hurt his knee, Korean Zombie will now face Jose Aldo for the title,” White posted on Twitter.
Pettis, who just recently went to Brazil for media events to promote the event, took to his own Twitter page, posting, “Injuries are part of the sport, Small tear in my meniscus. I was so ready for this fight, this won’t stop me! Be back soon.”
It will be interesting to see what Pettis does upon his return, as he is considered the No. 1 ranked lightweight contender, but moved down to cash in a title match sooner.
The Korean Zombie also posted a message of his own, simply stating, “I’m ready!!!!!!!!” in regards to the title opportunity.
