Anthony Pettis Doesn’t Need Surgery, But Expected To Be Sidelined For Month-Plus

Former WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis won’t be taking the place of TJ Grant at UFC 164.

Pettis, according to a report by ESPN, will be sidelined for six weeks to recover from a torn meniscus suffered last week. He was expected to face Jose Aldo for the UFC featherweight title at UFC 163, but has been replaced by Chan Sung Jung.

Some wondered if Pettis could step in and face Benson Henderson for the UFC lightweight title later in August, but the injury will not allow that.
