The August debut of FOX Sports 1 will feature the UFC, and everything is ready to go, says UFC president Dana White.
Previous reports surfaced regarding the card in Boston because of a state law involving international fighters and social security numbers. The commission requires all fighters have social security numbers in order to obtain a fight license, but those not living in the U.S. typically do not.
White, though, and the UFC have been working overtime to get matters solved and believe everything is cleared up for UFC on FS1: Shogun vs. Sonnen.
“We ended up getting everything straightened out,” said White, in an interview with the Boston Herald. “The fights will happen. The card will be great. It’s going to be good.”
Massachusetts is the only state in the U.S. that requires such a thing. Nearly half of the fighters competing on the August 17 card hail from outside the country, including main event competitor Mauricio “Shogun” Rua and co-main eventer Alistair Overeem.
