The UFC will allow women’s champion Ronda Rousey to help ring in the new year, as she will defend her title against Miesha Tate at UFC 168.
The two recently completed filming for The Ultimate Fighter, making history as both the first female coaches and leaders of female fighters on the show.
The 18th season, which begins airing in September on FOX Sports 1, features male and female bantamweights.
Rousey (7-0) previously bested Tate (13-4) for the Strikeforce title. She scored a first round submission victory over the then-champion.
So far, that is the only bout announced for the December 28 card from Las Vegas. The UFC has placed more than one championship match on the year-end event before, so this bout could either serve as the main event or co-main event.
