Interim UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao will put his title on the line in the co-main event of UFC 165 this September against Eddie Wineland.
The contest was expected to take place this past June, but a foot injury forced Barao’s exit.
It will be the second title fight on the September 21 card from Toronto, as Jon Jones defends his UFC light heavyweight title in the main event vs. Alexander Gustafsson.
Barao (30-1) is a perfect 5-0 since joining the UFC, including a win over Urijah Faber for the interim title. Dominick Cruz remains sidelined, recovering from knee surgeries and has not been able to defend his title since 2011.
Wineland is 20-8-1 in his career and 2-2 inside the Octagon.
