UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva has stepped inside the Octagon with former champions like Dan Henderson, Rich Franklin, Forrest Griffin and Vitor Belfort.
Still, with 10 successful title defenses on his resume and a perfect 16-0 UFC record, Silva still remains as giddy as a little kid on Christmas Eve.
“I’m very excited for this fight,” said Silva, during a recent appearance on “UFC Tonight.”
Silva will face Chris Weidman this Saturday night in the main event of UFC 162 from Las Vegas.
“The Spider” is viewed as a 2-to-1 favorite, but many of his fellow fighters are picking Weidman to finally end his stay atop the 185-pound division. That is quite fine by Silva.
“This is good because it’s very important for people to talk, talk, talk and the fans (to) watch the fight,” he said. “The fans watch Chris Weidman and Anderson Silva. Weidman has fans, I have fans.”
