Chris Weidman barely had a chance to ponder what he just accomplished before challengers started lining up at his door.
Vitor Belfort and Michael Bisping both made it known immediately following Weidman’s upset of Anderson Silva that they want to face the new champion next.
Weidman stunned the world by flooring Silva in the second round of their UFC middleweight title match at UFC 162 in Las Vegas.
Belfort, who has defeated Bisping and Luke Rockhold already this year, stated his desire to challenge the winner earlier this week. He previously lost to Silva via first round knockout.
“Congratulations, you are the new champion,” Belfort wrote on Twitter. “Next challenger is me! Let’s do it.”
Bisping called out Weidman last year while the new champion was pushing for a title fight. He posted “so your the new champ. Defend it, fight me!”
