Newly-christened MMA promoter Nick Diaz appears to have found the desire to fight again.
UFC president Dana White booked Diaz a hotel room for UFC 162 this past weekend, but the former Strikeforce champion didn’t show up. The two exchanged several texts messages, including one that hinted at a return to the Octagon.
“He texted me that he broke up with his girlfriend and he wants to fight,” said White, during his usual post-press conference media scrum.
Diaz recently held his first event for WAR MMA, a promotion he started, in Stockton, California.
His last fight came in March, a decision loss to Georges St-Pierre for the UFC welterweight title. The 29-year-old is 26-9 in his career, but has just one UFC win since returning to the promotion in 2011.
