Rory MacDonald didn’t beat around the bush when asked if he would face UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre following his win over Jake Ellenberger at UFC on FOX 8 Saturday night.
“I won’t fight Georges,” said MacDonald, on the FUEL TV post-fight show. “We’ll come to an alternative if it comes to it.”
MacDonald and GSP are training partners in Montreal at the Tristar Gym.
After securing a victory over Ellenberger in his return to the Octagon after a lengthy layoff due to an injury, “Ares” stated he has somebody else in mind for his next fight.
“I’d like to fight Carlos Condit again,” he said.
Condit is the only man to defeat MacDonald, and the two were set to meet before an injury knocked the Canadian out.
As for that decision to not face St-Pierre, MacDonald did make it known that he wants the UFC title – just not right now.
“I want the belt by the time I’m 25,” said MacDonald, who just turned 24 a few days ago.
