UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones likely received a stern lashing from UFC president Dana White Tuesday following a joke that didn’t really gain a lot of laughter.
Appearing on the UFC World Tour, Jones was asked how a UFC champion and two NFL players come from one family.
“Lots of steroids from a very young age,” Jones said. “I remember them in my bottles, needles being around the house…..”
“He’s joking,” White said.
“On the record, he’s joking,” Jones replied.
Jones is set to face Alex Gustafsson in September at UFC 165, and while the comment was made as one to spark laughter, in this day and age, it doesn’t get taken that way.
A current report has an MMA fighter linked to the Biogenesis raid that is targeting major league baseball. No names have been revealed.
Getting back to the question at hand, Jones did say that “(Baltimore Ravens) Arthur definitely can take me in a fight, (New England Patriots) Chandler definitely not, but go Patriots,” which was greeted to a chorus of boos from the crowd.
