Ridge Kiley moved on from a successful high school wrestling career in Eagle Grove, Iowa and jumped right into the big leagues of the NCAA at the University of Nebraska.
Now, after garnering several awards with the Cornhuskers, Kiley has ventured into the business of owning and operating an MMA gym.
Along with his brother, Garett Kiley, Unrivaled Sports Performance is set to open in Lincoln, Nebraska next month.
With over 4,000 square feet of gym space available, almost half of it will be used for mat space. There will also be a speed and agility drills area on artificial turf, along with a weight room and sauna.
“Unrivaled Sports Performance is, in essence, an athlete training center,” said Kiley, in an interview with FightLine. “We will be providing MMA classes, K-12 wrestling clubs, private wrestling lessons and video analysis, strength and conditioning for all sports, nutritional guidance and personal training.”
Kiley is a Certified Personal Trainer and is working towards his Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist endorsement. His brother and co-owner holds degrees in Physical Education and Sports Administration and Coaching. He is also certified in CSCS.
While competing in wrestling, Kiley has always kept an eye on the MMA scene. He is friends with MMA fighter Cody Land, who was sponsored by the gym for a fight last month.
“I have always been a fan of MMA,” he said. “The turning point for my interest in running a gym was going to Las Vegas for that card. I have wanted to open my own gym and pass on my knowledge of wrestling to the MMA community.
“Cody has helped me out a lot through the process. He has introduced me to many people and has helped build the hype around Nebraska for the gym. He’s disciplined and a hard worker and has a bright future in fighting ahead of him.”
