That rumored Nick Diaz-Lyoto Machida match up at middleweight has been scrapped, according to UFC president Dana White.
White, who first mentioned the bout, told reporters over the weekend that it was a “bad idea.”
“Diaz didn’t turn it down,” White added. “There’s other things going on with Diaz.”
Over the past few months, a return to action for Diaz has been mentioned by several people close to both the fighter and the UFC. However, it remains unknown what the former Strikeforce champion himself is planning, as he has remained quiet.
Machida, meanwhile, seem interested in just fighting. After Chael Sonnen choked out Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, the former uFC light heavyweight champion tossed his name into the hat to face Sonnen.
