Travis Browne Would Be Down For Fabricio Werdum No. 1 Contender Match

Travis Browne supplanted his name into contention in the UFC’s heavyweight division by finishing Alistair Overeem Saturday night at UFC Fight Night: Shogun vs. Sonnen.

So, what could be next for “Hapa?” How about Fabricio Werdum, who has been pushed for a title fight next.

“Possibly,” said Browne, about facing Werdum. “I never say no to a fight and have always been ready for anything they throw my way.”

Browne has defeated Overeem and Gabriel Gonzaga this year since suffering his first loss to Antonio Silva last year. The win by Silva moved him into a match with Overeem, which he won, and a title shot – which he lost.

Werdum hasn’t fought since defeating Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira after the two were coaches on The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. Most view him as the next contender after UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez faces Junior dos Santos, and he has stated he would be willing to remain sidelined if a title fight was promised to him next.
