When it is all said and done, UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson hopes to go down in history as one of the all-time greats.
For now, Henderson will stick to continuing to build his legacy and resume. That includes an upcoming title defense at UFC 164 vs. Anthony Pettis.
“I don’t consider myself in the (Matt) Hughes (class),” said Henderson, during a recent conference call. “I don’t think of myself as a Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, any one of those guys. It is (even) weird to think of yourself like that.”
Henderson has won seven straight fights, including title defenses over Frankie Edgar, Nate Diaz and Gilbert Melendez. He has constantly stated a desire to surpass Anderson Silva’s record for successful defenses, a number topped at 10 for the moment.
