UFC Fight Night 27: Donald Cerrone vs. Rafael dos Anjos Play-by-Play & Live Fight Result

UFC Fight Night 27: Condit vs. Kampmann 2 on FS1 features two top fighters in the lightweight division as Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Rafael dos Anjos will look to cement their spot in the top 10 of the UFC’s crowded 155-pound rankings. Cerrone (20-5, 7-2 UFC) was looking like a threat to the title in his first few UFC fights, but the Cowboy hasn’t looked the same since his three-round fight of the night loss to Nate Diaz. Dos Anjos (19-6, 8-4 UFC) didn’t have as much success in the Octagon as Cerrone early on, but has seemed to hit his stride, and is currently riding a four-fight win streak.

Cerrone vs. Dos Anjos

Round One: Both fighters are feeling each other out and Cerrone is looking for low kicks to get started. Dos Anjos is putting the pressure on Cerrone and throwing the harder shots. Dos Anjos throws a hard combo that misses by an inch, and Cowboy returns with a  low kick. Dos Anjos charges Cerrone and floors him with a right-hook. Cerrone recovers but the Brazilian is all over him. Dos Anjos starts landing elbows and punches before the round ends.

Round Two: Cerrone again looking for kicks and Dos Anos ignores them and keeps pressing Cerrone backward. Both fighters collide in close and Dos Anjos lands a nice knee and Cowboy eats it. Cerrone lands a takedown and does nothing with it and Dos Anjos is back to his feet. Another takedown from Dos Anjos and Cerrone is fishing for submissions, but Dos Anjos is doing everything correct and not overreacting to any of the attempts from Cowboy. Round ends with Cerrone on bottom.

Round Three: Cowboy lands a flush kick and dos Anjos responds with some big shots of his own. Dos Anj0s tries a takedown and Cerrone avoids and keeps active with more kicks. Both fighters trade some more and Dos Anjos again with the takedown and Cowboy defends it well and they exchange more before a jumping knee misses from Cerrone as the round comes to an end.
