Glover Teixeira’s 20-fight unbeaten streak – the last five of which have come inside the Octagon – have impressed UFC president Dana White enough to grant the Brazilian a future title shot.
Following Teixeira’s finish of Ryan Bader Wednesday night, White confirmed with Marshall Zelaznik, UFC director of international development, to announce him as the No. 1 contender.
Jon Jones, the current UFC 205-pound champion, faces Alexander Gustafsson later this month at UFC 165.
On Twitter, “Bones” was asked his thoughts on his future opponent, to which he replied, “I think he’s a lot like Rampage (Jackson) just with better grappling.”
