Al Iaquinta has agreed to replace Paul Taylor and face Anthony Njokuani this October at UFC Fight Night 30.
Iaquinta, coming off a win over Ryan Couture, recently talked with FightLine about the chance to get back into the Octagon quickly.
After falling in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter, Iaquinta (6-2-1) was forced to sit on the sidelines for several months due to injury. He returned in August and earned a decision victory over Couture for his first UFC win.
“We were talking about staying in shape and being ready for the call. It just so happened that night I got the call while watching the new episode of The Ultimate Fighter,” Iaquinta said. “I would really like to fight as much as possible. I had a long layoff after TUF and I have a lot of time to make up.”
Iaquinta also talked about the importance of facing a fighter with the resume of Njokuani (16-7), who has gone 3-3 in six UFC bouts.
“A win over Anthony would put me on the map for sure,” Iaquinta stated. “He is a well known guy in the division that has fought some of the toughest guys at 155.”
