Yushin Okami is headed to the World Series of Fighting.
After his release from the UFC earlier this year, Okami was pegged as a likely candidate to sign with the promotion, which has agreed to terms with several former UFC fighters.
The one-time UFC middleweight title contender went 13-5 in bouts inside the Octagon. The WSOF is currently working on crowning a champion at 185 pounds after putting together a four-fighter tournament.
“Welcome to the team Yushin Okami great to have you as part of the World Series of Fighting,” WSOF president Ray Sefo posted on Twitter recently, confirming news of the signing.
Jon Fitch, Josh Burkman, Anthony Johnson and Andrei Arlovski are all notables competing currently for the promotion.
The 32-year-old Okami (29-8) owns wins over the likes of Hector Lombard, Alan Belcher, Nate Marquardt and Mark Munoz during his career. All three of his losses since 2009 have come via finish.
