UFC heavyweight Stefan Struve is just 25 years old, but “The Skyscraper” was hit with some hard news earlier this year.
Struve was diagnosed with an enlarged heart and leaking aortic valve, both major issues with his ticker.
However, the fighter recently was told his enlarged heart has “decreased in size” and the leak is now “minimal,” down from medium severe. Thanks to that news, Struve was able to get back inside the gym for the first time in months.
“First time sparring since February of this year, finally,” Struve posted earlier this week on Twitter. “Timing was a bit off but it felt amazing to do what I love doing again. Not feeling anything different then before. On my (way) to that comeback!”
Struve (25-6) was defeated by Mark Hunt in his last UFC action. He is 4-1 in his last five, and owns 16 submission and eight knockout finishes to his credit.
