Gegard Mousasi appears poised to return to the middleweight division following a victory earlier this year at light heavyweight.
The former Strikeforce champion called out Lyoto Machida recently, asking to “make an impact” in his UFC middleweight debut.
“I want to make an impact in MW division and fight Machida!” posted Mousasi, who downed Ilir Latifi in Sweden. Latifi replaced Alexander Gustafsson at the last minute.
Mousasi (34-3-2) hasn’t lost since a decision defeat vs. Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal in 2010 for the Strikeforce 205-pound title. He has frequently bounced back and forth between the two divisions.
Machida, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, finished Mark Munoz this past Saturday in England.
