Former Ultimate Fighter runner-up Al Iaquinta talked with FightLine recently about his first UFC experience.
The promotion, which Iaquinta is part of, will celebrate its 20th anniversary later this month in Las Vegas.
“UFC 53 in Atlantic City was the first UFC me and my friends went to in high school,” Iaquinta said. “The energy in the arena was crazy that night. The punches and kicks were so fast and so precise.”
The card featured the crowning of Rich Franklin as the new UFC middleweight champion, as “Ace” bested Evan Tanner. Andrei Arlovski also defended his interim UFC heavyweight title, and Matt Serra competed.
Serra is currently one of the head coaches of Iaquinta, who topped Piotr Hallman last month to improve to 2-1 inside the Octagon.
