Georges St-Pierre Expands On His Leaving MMA Speech

UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre stated his plans to leave MMA for a while Saturday night after successfully defending his title against Johny Hendricks at UFC 167.

St-Pierre, who was not scheduled to appear at the post-fight press conference, appeared while the event was going on and offered some more insight into his words.

“I get very emotional,” he said. “I have so much stress, so much stuff going on in my life right now and I don’t know what to say. It is what it is……I have stuff going on. This is my personal life, I cannot speak to you about this.”

St-Pierre was continually pushed to discuss his “issues,” but UFC president Dana White stated he didn’t have to answer any questions. The two had a discussion before GSP showed up at the press conference.

The Canadian, though, admitted a couple of things, saying “I understand the point of view for the UFC and everything. It’s bad for them if I leave like this.”

St-Pierre sounds as if he is undergoing concussion-related issues after years of fighting, as he said “I can’t sleep at night now, I’m going crazy.

“I have issues. I need to relax. I need to get out for a while.”
