Hacran Dias Explains Decision To Pull Out Of UFC Fight Night 34 Contest

Hacran Dias wants nothing more than to avenge his first loss in four years after falling to Nik Lentz this past May.

In fact, he agreed to face Tatsuya Kawajiri next month despite still suffering from intense pain out of his hands.

But, after consulting with his team, Dias (21-2) has decided that it is too much and will undergo surgery on both of his hands.

“I fought my last couple fights with both hands hurt, and I couldn’t even train anymore,” said Dias, during an interview with “I couldn’t close or open my hands, couldn’t hit the bag or pads, and had no grip, so I decided to have this surgery now. I was training (when the UFC offered me the fight), but the pain was going on and off.”

Dias explained that tried to do everything he could to fight, but “I went to the doctor and he told me I should do the surgery. I was set to fight Rodrigo Damm and then he pulled off the fight with health problems, and now I was going to fight Kawajiri, so I’m going to have this surgery so I won’t have any problems in the future.”

Dias earned a win in 2012 over Iuri Alcantara in his Octagon debut, running his win streak at that time to nine.
