Carlos Condit Comments On Not Fighting At UFC On FOX 9

Former interim UFC welterweight champion Carlos Condit was removed from Saturday’s UFC on FOX 9 card after an injury to Matt Brown.

With just a number of days before the event, UFC officials were forced to scrap the contest completely after Brown suffered a back injury.

For Condit, the news means he will rest up and await word on his future – while enjoying the coming weeks with his family.

“Right now, I’m going to spend time with my family over the holidays and hope that Matt heals up quickly so that we can reschedule this fight soon,” Condit said in a statement released. “Thanks to all of the fans out there for their support.”

Condit (29-7) owns a 6-3 UFC mark, while Brown (18-11) has won his last six inside the Octagon to go to 11-5 with the promotion. “The Natural Born Killer” is hopeful the contest will be scheduled for another date once “The Immortal” is healed up.

“This was a fight that I was looking forward to immensely, and I know it was a fight the fans have been excited to see,” he said. “When the fight does happen, I promise that the wait will be worth it.”

Officials moved a lightweight scrap between Joe Lauzon and Mac Danzig to the FOX-televised main card in place of Condit-Brown.
