Royler Gracie Talks Camoes, Family History, And Why BJJ is “Forever”

Fabricio Camoes

Anyone who has followed MMA or the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world for sometime, is more than familiar with the name Royler Gracie. After all, when your brothers with fellow martial arts legends like Rickson and Royce Gracie, it’s not hard to get noticed. Not only that, but Royler was also involved in several memorable MMA bouts during his career, and so when he talks, plenty of people listen.

This is one of the reasons why it’s interesting to hear that Fabricio Camoes has been “exchanging information” with Royler, as he prepares for his UFC 168 bout with Jim Miller. RM Sports recently caught up with Royler at Kings MMA, who relayed that Camoes has also been enlisting the help of renowned trained, Rafael Cordeiro. If you’re going to get some solid training in, then learning from Cordeiro and Gracie is certainly a good way to go.

The 48 year-old Gracie also offered this awesome take on why BJJ has become a lasting part of mainstream society.

“Jiu-Jitsu in my opinion is never going to stop to grow. This is going to be forever you know? And that’s because, in my opinion, the little kid, four years old, five years old, they can train in, and 75 years old, 80 years old they can still train in. In MMA it’s kind of a small hit you know? You can say 17, 16, to 35. After that you start getting old and before that you start to be young. That’s why I say Jiu-Jitsu is a big hit for a lot more people.”

It’s hard to argue with that. You can watch the interesting interview below.

UFC 168 will go down December 28th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
