Joseph Benavidez Left Shocked, Disappointed Following Loss

Joseph Benavidez was left a little shell-shocked following his knockout loss to UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson this past weekend.

Benavidez, who had never been stopped in his MMA career, was caught with a right-hand that dropped him to the canvas. It took him several minutes to get to his feet, and the fighter revealed he suffered a concussion during an appearance on MMAjunkie Radio recently.

As for the loss, that left even more puzzlement from the Team Alpha Male fighter.

“I’m just confused about what happened,” he said. “I didn’t get to perform my best and fight the best guy in front of millions of people. They don’t know how I could have performed.

“I know I was going to have a great performance; that stuff doesn’t happen every day (competing on FOX). That’s the crappy part.”

Benavidez knows it could take several more fights to work his way back into title contention now, as he has lost to “Mighty Mouse” on two different occasions.
