UFC 169 Could Be Forced To Go Up Against NFL’s Super Bowl

The UFC likes to pair a big-time pay-per-view event up for the same weekend as the NFL’s yearly Super Bowl game.

This year, they decided to hold UFC 169 February 1 in Newark, New Jersey to go alongside Super Bowl 48 in nearby MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford on February 2.

However, after a series of snow-filled regular season games and future outlooks saying New Jersey could be hit hard by a winter storm in early February, there are reports that the NFL could move the big game to that Saturday – meaning it would go up against the UFC card.

“NFL head of events Frank Supovitz reiterates contingency plans in place that could see Super Bowl start day early, day late or later,” reported Sport Business Journal’s Daniel Kaplan.

The impact financially this would have on the UFC could be huge, as the Super Bowl is typically one of the most-watched events or shows. The UFC card does feature two championship matches, including the return of Dominick Cruz.
