UFC 168: Silva Says “Things Are Going to be Different From Now On”

Anderson Silva

As if 2013 hasn’t been amazing already in terms of thrilling and monumental fights, the year will close out at UFC 168, with one of the biggest scraps in UFC history. Case in point, you know a bout is ridiculously huge when you don’t have to mention who the fighters even are, or when you’re asked multiple times “are you watching the fight Saturday.”

Of course, the hype behind Chris Weidman-Anderson Silva II is so massive, not only because the latter is a legend, but because his downfall at UFC 162 came from clowning around. Sure, Silva has acted that way in previous bouts and he’s mentioned that several times since the loss, but lets face it, those ‘tactics’ were becoming more frequent in recent fights.

So, now that the historic fight is just days away, is Silva ready to concede that maybe he took his championship run a little bit for granted? Well, in a recent article from MMA Junkie.com, Silva responded to that question with  “Maybe a little bit”.

“The Spider” has also pointed to his footwork recently, or lack thereof, as to why his taunting cost him on July 6th. So doe that mean we won’t see Silva try something similar Saturday? Or will he be right back at it?

“Obviously we made a few changes. When you see a mistake, you’ve got to get back and see what that mistake is and change a few things. But like I said, that’s in the past, and everything is going to be different from now on.”

Guess we’ll find out in a couple of days, although Silva did add that “everything was going well” in the first bout, so…don’t be surprised if we see some similar moves. After all, that’s one of the reasons he’s one of the all time greats. It’s certainly going to be an edge of your seat kind of evening.

UFC 168 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
