UFC 168: Anderson Silva Changed Himself Prior To Rematch

Former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva proclaimed himself “in it for the long haul” ahead of tonight’s UFC 168 card.

Silva, who will face Chris Weidman for the title in the main event, reiterated that he has a lengthy contract with the UFC – and plans to fulfill it.

“I still have eight fights on my contract,” said Silva, during the pre-fight press conference earlier this week. “If I am going to retire, there is no way to say that right now.

“It will come from my heart.”

Silva was defeated for the first time in his UFC career this past July by Weidman, suffering a second round knockout loss. In preparing for the rematch, “The Spider” made changes to his camp, but didn’t want to disclose them.

“The biggest change was really with myself,” he said. “It is very hard at one point to be a fighter and a coach. I knew I had to change something. I thank my team….the change was really in myself.”
