UFC 168: Nogueira Relays that Silva is Really “Hungry” Heading Into Rematch

Anderson Silva

This is it. UFC 168 has finally arrived and tonight countless fans will conclude whether Anderson Silva just got carried away at UFC 162 in July, or if Chris Weidman is in fact is the new man at 185. It’s hard to imagine, but if Silva loses to Weidman for a second time, 2014 could begin with the legendary fighter having hung up his gloves.

Regardless of what goes down tonight in Las Vegas, one man who insists Silva is re-motivated and ready to go is Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, who has trained with the consensus G.O.A.T. for years. In a recent interview with, here is some of what the decorated heavyweight had to say about “The Spider”.

“When you’re undefeated, everybody feels like you’re perfect, like you’re not human,” said Nogueira. “He had a bad day that day and he knows that.”

“He’s fighting for the belt, so he’s hungry,” added “Big Nog”. “He spent a lot of time with his family, and he had a really good camp. He told me he feels like he has no pressure now. That’s why he’s relaxed. He told me he’s coming back stronger, and that’s what I see. He was motivated, he called everybody to train and he would get mad when people would come late. (Laughs) That shows he’s motivated.”

It’s a massive and crazy fight on so many levels. Based off how Silva looked at yesterday’s weigh-ins, when he squared off with the new champ, the 38 year-old star certainly looked extremely motivated.

As far as “Minotauro”, the vet continues to recover from arm surgery he required following his submission loss to Fabricio Werdum in June, and hopes to fight again in March or April.

UFC 168 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
