Chris Weidman Looking For Quick Return To Action

Just moments after defeating Anderson Silva for a second time, UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman was asked his thoughts on Vitor Belfort.

Belfort stormed through three fighters in 2013 to position himself as the No. 1 contender for the title. Weidman topped Silva at UFC 168 Saturday night via second round TKO.

“I think he’s a stud,” said Weidman, on the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show. “He’s a big, strong guy, very experienced.

“(But compared to Silva) they are two completely different guys.”

Weidman stated that “one guys is rangy, technical, very slick; Belfort is more of a powerhouse guy who will come in and bring the heat.

“He will try to overwhelm me with power and speed.”

Weidman didn’t know for sure when his bout with Belfort will take place, but he doesn’t want to be sidelined too awful long.

“I am ready to get in there right away,” he said. “I might have a meniscus tear, so I will get that (checked out) and maybe have two-or-three weeks off and go from there.”
