The New Jersey State Athletic Control Board announced the referee and judging assignments for UFC 169, which takes place on February 1 in Newark, N.J.
Handling judging duties for the main- and co-main event will be Ricardo Almeida, Cardo Urso and Eric Colon. All are experienced officials who have handled high-profile fights before, and Almeida has the added experience of being a UFC vet and well-respected Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt instructor.
As for refereeing, Herb Dean – the only non-New Jersey-based official to work the card – will handle the main event between bantamweight champ Renan Barao and challenger Urijah Faber, while Keith Peterson will oversee featherweight champ Jose Aldo versus Ricardo Lamas. For Alistair Overeem’s scrap with Frank Mir, referee “Big” Dan Miragliotta will do the honors.
