Michael Bisping’s expected to face Tim Kennedy later this year, likely at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale.
However, to make the bout official, Bisping needs to get medical clearance for his eye issue. Previous reports stated the results from a series of tests were deemed inconclusive, leaving him to keep searching.
That search appears over, as “The Count” offered up an update on Twitter early Thursday morning.
“Got some good news today!!!!!!…… Can you guess what it is?” he wrote. “Let’s just say I’m gonna step my training up.”
Bisping later responded to a fan who wrote “Tim Kennedy’s day just got a lot worse,” by remarking, “looks like it!!!” to further confirm his passing of the eye tests.
Despite a 2-2 mark in his last four fights, the Brit is still considered a top contender at middleweight. He rebounded from a loss to Vitor Belfort last January to defeat Alan Belcher in April.
Continuing issues with his eye, though, have kept the normally active Bisping on the sidelines. Since 2010, he has fought nine times, including a stint as coach on The Ultimate Fighter.

UPDATE: UFC president Dana White has since confirmed that the two will meet in April.
