Invicta FC announced the signing of 15 new fighters to five different weight classes Friday night, including a pair of recent Ultimate Fighter contestants.
Peggy Morgan and Roxanne Modafferi, who both appeared on TUF, will join the Invicta FC bantamweight division.
Other signings include Amber Brown, Livia Renata Souza, Karolina Kowalkiewicz, Mellony Geugjes, Herica Tiburcio, Ashley Greenway, Rachel Ostovich, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Valerie Letourneau, Delaney Owen, Cindy Dandois, Irene Aldana and Faith Van Duin.
“Invicta has always endeavored to balance delivering the athletes fans know and love, with an eye towards building the next generation of female MMA stars,” said Invicta FC president Shannon Knapp. “It has always been important to give the fans new athletes to cheer for, and to give the athletes themselves a platform to showcase their talent for the entire world to see.”
Julie Kedzie, a veteran of the UFC and other promotions, was brought in to be the matchmaker for Invicta FC.
“This new class provides me with added depth to put together match ups that we believe the fans want to see.” Kedzie said.
The promotion is planning to hold six cards in 2014, including one in April.
Modafferi lost her Octagon debut via decision to Raquel Pennington last November.
“The UFC has decided not to bring me back,” she wrote on Twitter. “I’m excited to fight for Invicta FC! I can’t wait to show everyone my improvement.”
Morgan echoed those thoughts, stating on Twitter, “I’m very excited to be signed with Invicta. It’s an amazing promotion and I can’t wait to prove I belong with the best.”
