Anderson Silva’s Doctor Says He Is Showing Incredible Improvement

When we last saw former UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva inside the Octagon, he was screaming in pain after suffering a broken leg vs. Chris Weidman.

That happened in December.

UFC president Dana White believes “The Spider” could be fighting again by the end of this year, as he told media members during his post-UFC 170 scrum Saturday night.

“(The doctor) said he could fight by the end of the year,” White said. “He said, this is actually crazy. Look at all the bone growth that he has in eight weeks.’ Sometimes you don’t see that kind of growth over a couple of years.”

Silva (33-6) had a rod placed in his leg after suffering the injury. He has posted several updates via social media, showing him recovering by walking down a flight of stairs and moving around a room without a brace or crutch.

White and UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta are set to talk with Silva in Los Angeles this week. He turns 39 in April, but appears dead-set on a return to action.

“Anything can happen,” White said. “He can hurt it again in training. He could start training and not feel the same.

“We’ll just see how it plays out.”
