UFC Fight Night: Henderson Expecting Same Shogun

Dan Henderson will be able to use TRT for one final fight this coming weekend, facing Mauricio “Shogun” Rua a second time at UFC Fight Night from Brazil.

Henderson, a 2011 winner over Rua, will also be forced to find a new way of dealing with getting older, as the UFC has banned the use of TRT going forward.

The former Strikeforce champion was given a reprieve for this bout, and talked about that during a recent interview on “UFC Tonight.”

“I haven’t given it a lot of thought,” he said. “I’m focused on this fight. I guess I’ll have to explore some more natural ways of dealing with things.

“I’ve fought a lot time. I’ve never abused it.”

Henderson also feels a different approach could have been taken instead of just the complete banning of the replacement therapy.

“A lot of guys are abusing a lot of other things, but wouldn’t get away with it if they were tested,” he said. “I feel like they should have implemented random drug testing.”

As for the actual fight with Rua, Henderson believes he knows what to expect vs. the former UFC light heavyweight champion after already spending 25 minutes inside the Octagon with him.

“We’ve both been fighting for so long, it’s not like we haven’t seen each other fight,” he said. “We both know what to expect. My game plan might have changed up just a tad since the last fight.”
