UFC 172’s Jake Ellenberger Agrees To New Contract

Jake Ellenberger, a former NCAA Div. II wrestling standout, has agreed to a new deal with the UFC.

The welterweight is 29-7 in his career and 8-3 with the UFC. He posted a message on Twitter indicating that he has signed a deal contract with the promotion.

Ellenberger reeled off six consecutive victories from 2010 to 2012 after losing his Octagon debut via split decision to Carlos Condit. That run included wins over Mike Pyle, John Howard, Sean Pierson and Jake Shields via stoppage, and a decision vs. Diego Sanchez.

Since, “The Juggernaut” has posted a 2-2 mark, including a 2013 loss to Rory MacDonald. He was expected to return to action in January and meet Tarec Saffiedine in Singapore, but an injury forced his removal.

Ellenberger and Saffiedine will now meet next month at UFC 172.
