Dan Henderson Picks Up Another Finish

Dan Henderson earned his second victory over Mauricio “Shogun” Rua Sunday night at UFC Fight Night 38, and this one had no controversy behind it.

After scoring a decision in a hotly-contested 2011 fight, Henderson dropped Rua and left him a bloody mess in the third round this time.

The win snapped a three-fight losing skid for Henderson, one of which was the first time he had been finished when Vitor Belfort stopped him last year.

“After hthe year I had, this means a lot more to me,” Henderson said. “Shogun’s been such a big part of MMA. He is a talented, tough fighter.”

Henderson (30-11) admitted that he had his “bell rung” early against Rua, and said by the third round, he knew he had to be more aggressive.

“I think in the third we both decided to get after it,” he said. “To pick up where we left off the last fight.

“I am just such a big fan of Shogun’s. I will always be a fan of his.”

In 2013, Henderson dropped split decisions to former UFC champions Lyoto Machida and Rashad Evans before the Belfort defeat. This marked the fifth straight fight for “Hendo” against a former UFC champion.
