UFC On FOX 11: Travis Browne Ready To Fulfill His Destiny

ufc on fox 11

Travis Browne has amassed a three-fight winning streak, with all three victories coming within the first round.

And he hasn’t face any cupcakes either.

Browne (16-1-1) has stopped former champions Josh Barnett and Alistair Overeem, along with one-time UFC title contender Gabriel Gonzaga, to position himself in a No. 1 contender match with Fabricio Werdum later this month at UFC on FOX 11.

Despite the incredible run of wins, Browne isn’t believing the old adage that momentum can carry you to more victories. He understands this is MMA, and anything can happen.

“I don’t believe in momentum,” said Browne, during a recent interview on UFC Tonight. “In this sport, it only takes one shot to stop the fight.”

Browne knows a thing or two about that, as he left Overeem floored with a front-kick last August and stopped Barnett and Gonzaga with vicious elbows in his other two fights since a 2012 loss to Antonio Silva in which he suffered a hamstring injury.

His success has positioned him for the biggest fight of his career with Werdum, but that isn’t changing how “Hapa” prepares.

“Earlier in my career, all I wanted to do is fight for the title,” he said. “Now, I have so much more in the big picture. This fight has no more pressure than my other fights.

“The UFC, holding that belt, it’s all part of my life. There’s no pressure that I haven’t already put on myself.”
