Sarah Kaufman Stakes Claim To Another Big-Time UFC Female Fight

Sarah Kaufman

Wednesday night’s lone female fight at The Ultimate Fighter Nations Finale between Sarah Kaufman and Leslie Smith was nothing short of spectacular.

Kaufman was declared the winner over Smith, who took the fight on short notice after Shayna Baszler and Amanda Nunes were forced to withdraw due to injuries.

A look at the stats shows just how incredible Kaufman’s performance was, as the former Strikeforce champion landed 232 total strikes. She threw 403 in the 15-minute battle, connecting on 202 of 370 significant strikes.

“(I am) so excited to have the win,” Kaufman said. “The three changes of opponent were stressful, I admit, but UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby did a great job of keeping me on this card.”

In contrast, Smith was 100 of 265 overall and 79-for-243 on significant shots. The disparity in each individual round was even more one-sided, as Kaufman landed 81, 79 and 72 total strikes per round.

Kaufman (17-2) earned her initial UFC victory with the win, having fought Jessica Eye to a no-contest last year. She is 5-1 with the one no-contest in her last seven overall, losing only to Ronda Rousey in 2012.
