Bellator 120: Two Tourney Finals Added To Docket

Bjorn Rebney

Officials have set the lineup for May’s Bellator pay-per-view debut, and have loaded up the Spike TV prelims in the process.

Bellator 120 takes place May 17 from the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi. The card will be the first to air on PPV by Bellator, and features the third encounter between lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and Michael Chandler.

Along with main card bouts boasting Quinton “Rampage” Jackson vs. “King Mo” Lawal, Tito Ortiz vs. Alexander Shlemenko and Will Brooks vs. Nate Jolly, officials have also added welterweight prospect Michael Page vs. Rickey Rainey to the docket.

Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney told FightLine after Bellator 117 that there isn’t much difference between putting on a season show compared to the upcoming pay-per-view, just that things get amplified a bit.

“Our audience is going to be closer to 10,000 instead of 3,000-to-4,000,” Rebney said. “The formatting juggles because there are no commercials (compared to Spike TV broadcasts), but I have such a rock-solid team that knows their stuff.

“They have been working on all the features for the pay-per-view. This is a big event and it is important to us, but the prep is not much different.”

The prelims will see Cheick Kongo back in action against Eric Smith, while heavyweight tournament finalists Alexander Volkov and Blagoi Ivanov meet to determine the No. 1 contender.

Lightweight tournament finalist Marcin Held and Patrick Pitbull will also square off on the prelims.
