Mark Munoz Still Has Desire To Continue Fighting Despite Another Loss

ufc fight night 41

Mark Munoz suffered a second consecutive defeat Saturday at UFC Fight Night 41, falling via submission to Gegard Mousasi in the first round from Germany.

Following a loss last November to Lyoto Machida, the one-time contender made sure to let everyone know he plans to return.

“I’ve just got to pick up the pieces,” said Munoz, during the post-fight press conference. “Just keep going. It’s a tough loss.

“It doesn’t matter how many times you fall, it’s how many times you pick yourself back up.”

The 36-year-old Munoz (13-5) had earned a win over Tim Boetsch in early 2013 before suffering his first-ever losing streak. From 2009 until ’11, he had posted a 7-2 record, but a loss to current champion Chris Weidman started the recent downward spiral.

Munoz added getting back up is “what I’ll do.” It was also reported on Facebook that Munoz suffered a possible knee injury, stating, “it buckled during the first takedown. When we receive the results of the MRI, we will update all.”
