Nick Diaz Vs. Anderson Silva Super-Fight Picks Up Steam

Confirming previous reports that both camps are indeed interested in a fight, UFC president Dana White recently stated that we could be seeing an Anderson Silva-Nick Diaz fight in the future.

While Silva remains on-par to return from a broken leg either late in 2014 or early in 2015, Diaz is still in his self-imposed retirement and has yet to actually say he will compete again for sure.

However, with the idea of a super-fight being on the table, Diaz would likely receive the financial output needed to fight once more.

“I know they want it,” said White, during an interview with “I think that’s a very interesting fighting, so we’ll see what happens.”

Silva (33-6) is coming off back-to-back losses at the hands of Chris Weidman, with the bout in December leaving him with the worst injury of his career. “The Spider” has been recovering since, and has personally stated plans to fight again next year.

Diaz (26-9) left MMA following a loss to Georges St-Pierre for the UFC welterweight title. The former Strikeforce champion has mentioned possibly competing in a boxing match against Roy Jones, Jr., but has also turned down numerous fight offers by the UFC in recent months.

White knows he has time to work out all the details such as where the fight would take place, when and at what weight class.

“Anderson isn’t coming back until December,” he said. “It’s far enough that I don’t need to talk to him yet. If Anderson wants to fight Nick, and Nick wants to fight Anderson, why would I say no?”
