Dana White On If Paul Daley Will Ever Get Second Chance

Ryan Bader

UFC president Dana White continues to give fans an insight into the happenings around the promotion with his weekly interview on

In the most recent release, White discussed a number of subjects, including a main event between Ryan Bader and Ovince St. Preux, along with the possible return of Paul Daley.

Bader and St. Preux will meet in Maine later this year in a five-round light heavyweight contest. Both are on win streaks and ranked inside the Top-10, making this an important contest for each fighter.

“That is a great fight and I love that fight,” White said. “Ovince St. Preux is another guy that looks better every time he fights. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see a real finish in his last fight.

“But these are two guys who are battling to get their spot in light heavyweight division – to try and break into the Top-5. I think Ryan Bader is a great test for him.”

Daley was released from the UFC in 2010 after striking Josh Koscheck well after the final whistle sounded. He was immediately released and has been asking for another chance.

Since the decision to cut Daley, he has won 11 of 15 fights, including seven of his last nine. That, though, seems to have zero impact on his status as far as White is concerned.

“He obviously wants to be back. I just have a hard time with it,” White said. “Since we’ve been here, and as far as I know in UFC history, no fighter has ever punched another fighter in the face when a fight was over. I just can’t forgive that.”
