Cain Velasquez Being Chased By Derrick Lewis, Yes, Derrick Lewis

tuf 19 finale

The UFC heavyweight division might have a contender on its hands in the near future, as Derrick Lewis moved to 11-2 in his career with a first round finish of Guto Inocente Sunday night at The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale.

Lewis, who called out current champion Cain Velasquez after his initial UFC win, did the same again – this time, it was a different approach.

“I’ve been looking at Cain for a while,” Lewis said. “Every time I train, I picture my training partners as Cain. I am training hard for him.”

Lewis landed a devastating takedown after bull-rushing into Inocente, who was fighting for the first time since 2012. He continued on the ground with three rights that knocked the Brazilian out cold.

“See red, time to kill,” Lewis said. “Beast mode kicked in.

“I set some goals for myself. I really want to run through this whole heavyweight division.”

While Velasquez is still several fights away, Lewis made it known he would like Matt Mitrione next. Mitrione was scheduled to meet Stefan Struve at UFC 175, but it was canceled after Struve blacked out in the backstage area before the fight.
