UFC 177: Renan Barao Quite Fine By T.J. Dillashaw For First Defense

ufc 177

T.J. Dillashaw doesn’t want to seek opponents out to defend his UFC bantamweight title. He wants the promotion to do that for him.

So, despite claiming a convincing victory over Renan Barao earlier this year to become champion, Dillashaw’s (10-2) first title defense will come vs. Barao (32-2) – and that’s quite alright by him.

“It’s a great fight for me,” said Dillashaw, in an interview with MMAjunkie.com. “I’m happy to fight whoever they want me to fight. I don’t want to have to choose anybody; I just want to have the fights come to me.”

Dillashaw, an alum of The Ultimate Fighter, has won two straight and six of his last seven overall. The lone loss came to Raphael Assuncao, who he replaced for the shot at Barao. Assuncao was injured and could not accept the fight at that time.

The rematch is set for UFC 177 on August 30 from Sacramento, California.
