UFC On FOX 12’s Matt Brown Not Bothered By High-Stakes Match

ufc on fox 12

Matt Brown felt pressure.

He felt it while in the midst of a losing skid that likely nearly cost him his job in the UFC.

Now, seven wins later, and “The Immortal” is on the cusp of competing for the UFC welterweight title. He’ll have to go through Robbie Lawler Saturday at UFC on FOX 12.

“Every fight is the biggest fight,” said Brown, during a recent appearance on UFC Tonight. “I’ve gotten in enough fights. I know what I’m doing in there, whether it’s a fight for the title or in a backyard.

“Once leather is thrown, then there’s just a flow.”

Brown (19-11) finished Erick Silva earlier this year, making is five consecutive stoppage wins since a decision over Stephen Thompson in 2012.

Along the way, Brown has topped Mike Pyle, Jordan Mein, Mike Swick and Luis Ramos, while also scoring a second round TKO over Chris Cope to begin his run.

In Lawler, Brown will be meeting his biggest challenge. “Ruthless” competed for the title earlier this year and scored a victory over Jake Ellenberger to remain in contention.

“He doesn’t show a lot of weaknesses,” Brown said. “I watched the (Johny) Hendricks fight and Hendricks and I are very different fighters, so I’ll fight him differently. I see what I see and I’m going to have my opportunities to put it on Lawler on Saturday.”

FightLine will have complete coverage of the action, including play-by-play and post-fight news and information.
