UFC On FOX 12’s Kyle Kingsbury Retires Following Loss

ufc on fox 12

Kyle Kingsbury returned from a serious eye injury, fighting for the first time in two years Saturday at UFC on FOX 12 against Patrick Cummins.

The 15-minute beating he took, though, was enough, as Kingsbury announced his retirement after the loss.

Kingsbury (11-6) lost his last four fights after starting his career with an 11-2 record overall. He dropped his UFC debut to Tom Lawlor, but rebounded with four consecutive wins.

“In my run it felt like peaks and valleys but in the end I am completely grateful for it all,” he wrote on Twitter. “Every beating I (dealt) out and every beating I took. I’ve learned more about life in the small window I’ve fought than in any other venture.

“Life only continus to get better. I love you all.”

In 2011, “Kingsbu” dropped a decision to Stephan Bonnar that came on the heels of wins over Fabio Maldonado and Jared Hamman. He lost to Glover Teixeira and Jimi Manuwa two years ago.

Kingsbury was a standout college football player at Arizona State before appearing on The Ultimate Fighter.
