Ben Saunders will be making his UFC return for the first time in four years. The UFC announced Monday that Saunders (16-6-2 MMA, 4-3 UFC) will fight Chris Heatherly (8-1 MMA, 0-0 UFC) at UFC Fight Night 49.
Saunders has eight knockouts, five submissions and three decision victories in his MMA career. In his last four fights, he is 3-1.
He beat Brian Warren via TKO at Bellator Fighting Championships 72 on Jul / 20 / 2012, Koffi Adzitso via unanimous decision at Bellator 86 on Jan / 24 / 2013 and then Raul Amaya via KO at Bellator 90 on Feb / 21 / 2013. However, in his next fight he lost to Douglas Lima via KO at Bellator 100 on Sep / 20 / 2013.
The FOX Sports 1 card is headlined by the five-round lightweight matchup between Benson Henderson and Rafael Dos Anjos.
UFC Fight Night 49 goes down on Aug. 23 at BOK Center in Tulsa, Okla. The majority of the card is expected to air on FOX Sports 1 following a couple of the prelims on the UFC Fight Pass.
