Tim Boetsch Comes Through In Home State

ufc fight night 47

Tim Boetsch was just what UFC Fight Night 47 needed Saturday night, rallying from a rough first round to finish Brad Tavares and excite the Maine crowd.

Boetsch, born in Lincolnville, Maine, was bloodied and bruised after five minutes of action with Tavares. However, after landing a short left that wobbled the Hawaiian, “The Barbarian” connected again to get the win.

“It was an honor to fight in Bangor (Maine),” Boetsch said. “I love you guys. This is one of the better feelings I’ve ever had in my life.”

Boetsch (18-7) has now won two of three, with the lone loss coming to Luke Rockhold. He is 6-3 in his last nine and owns eight wins via knockout.

“I am glad I’m not afraid to see my own blood,” Boetsch said. “I was throwing hard and I knew if I landed that would be all it would take. He’s tough, as you can tell by the way my face is looking.

“It was an honor to fight (Tavares).”

For Tavares, the loss was his second straight after winning five in a row inside the Octagon. He is now 12-3 overall and suffered his first career stoppage loss.
